PUPS Update & Re-Opening – March 2021

Pups Club had planned to reopen on the 15th March when all Primary children return to school. However, there have been situations in some Primary Schools within North Ayrshire which have resulted in a class or classes having to self isolate because a member of that class has tested Positive to Covid-19.

Although OSC (out of school care) facilities have been given permission to reopen, the guidelines state very clearly that ‘bubbles’ should be kept small and social distancing observed where practically possible. Given that Pups Club serves two Primary Schools and has children attending from P1 – P7, the Committee feel that in order  to do the upmost to ensure the safety of children and staff, it would be wise to defer opening until after the Easter Holidays. By this time hopefully the number of people contracting the virus will be further reduced as the roll out of the vaccine program continues. In addition, the weather should hopefully have improved, allowing much of our activities and play to take place outdoors, again a practice that is being greatly encouraged by the Scottish Government.

The committee did not take the decision to defer opening lightly as we understand this this may cause a problem to some. However, we hope that parents will understand that our priority is to keep children safe.

Provided there is no further restraints set by the Scottish Government, Pups Club will open on Monday the 19th of April for Breakfast Club and After School Care.
